Earlier this month journalist Tiara Byas did a Capstone project on Five Ways Parents and Educators Can Help Support Middle and High School Students with Mental Health, but what about daily stress how do teens deal with everyday stress?

(CAP20) 2021 reported on May 3, 2021, that 53% of US public schools had reopened their doors to full in-person learning. Now that school has been back in session for the last three years, managing daily stress for teens is an essential topic, and how these teens deal with daily stress is even more important.

First, let’s talk about what the biggest stressor for most teenagers is, according to  ( Kathleen Smith,2022), school is the most common source of stress for 83% of teens, whether they are finishing grade school, deciding if they want to continue their education, or getting a college education.

In a recent interview Tiara Byas did with her son Will Horton he said that one of the ways he deals with stress is to ask his teacher if he can take a minute to do some deep breathing. Will also recommends reading a book or listening to music to relieve stress. In "10 Ways to Manage Everyday Stress" (D'Arcy Lyness, 2024) he states that eating well and getting enough sleep are great ways to deal with stress. Planning your day out ahead of time and balancing your workload are also mentioned.
