For twenty-seven years Angie Woods has worked at St Louis Children’s Hospital, and she currently still works there. When she first started working at Children’s in 1996, she started as an intern, and in just 8 months she was transferred to a Patient Access employee, where she served that position for one year. After one she was promoted to Supervisor of Patient Access, eight years later she was promoted yet again to Manager of Patient Access, and now she is Ambulatory Operations Manager.

Angie has been serving in her new position for two years now, and she having a great time doing it. When I spoke with Angie she said, “I’m loving serving in my most recent position, it’s been a great experience thus far.” Now you’re probably wondering what an Ambulatory Operations Manager is. An Ambulatory Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing leads and developing guidelines that are related to the patient experiences which include standard assurances, training, phone service levels, referral management, call resolution, and scheduling accuracy.

An Ambulatory Operations Manager's salary in the state of Missouri is about sixty-five thousand or more yearly.

For Angie her morning routine does vary, mainly because she oversees two of St Louis Children’s Hospital location sites, travels with her liaison, hosts weekly meetings, and still manages to have time for her family, friends, and church community. When I asked Angie what her favorite part has been in her twenty-seven-year career at St Louis Children’s Hospital, she quickly responded without any hesitation stating, “I enjoy working with the patients and their families, to ensure they are provided with the best care and experience while at St Louis Children Hospital.”

Although Angie doesn’t have any plans on slowing down or retiring soon, she did mention thinking about a retirement plan when she was asked, where she saw herself six months to a year from now.
