Part of parenting is knowing that as parents you need a place or a group where you can go and gain strength from other individuals who are just like you, and when it comes to church community no one knows the important role it can play in one’s life, that’s mainly because of the lack of belief in church or the lack of belief in community, either way having my singles group at church is one of the best outlets for me as a parent.
On September 16, 2023, my church Covenant For Life International Singles had a Brunch and Conversation event at The Original Pancake House in Saint Louis, MO. Although there was no specific topic for the conversation it was still good to gather with like-minded people.
Upon arriving we had already had this Saturday midday event set up for about a month in advance. The plan was to show up and enjoy each other presence, good food, and great conversation. There was a total of six of us in attendance, and what I love most is that our single group consists of single parents and single in relationships (unmarried) or divorcees, so our conversations are full of different topics.
After ordering, we immediately began conversating about life as saved individuals. There is always great advice from our singles group and good laughs because with all being believers of faith there are encouraging words, hugs, and prayers. Once our food arrived, we gave thanks and began to eat. (Fun fact that you probably did not know. The first church community event ever was at a Jewish festival called Pentecost.) After everyone had finished eating and paying their tab, we sat for a few more minutes to plan our next event and take group pictures to capture the moment.
There's no way you can leave a church community event like this and not feel better, motivated, and happy with life. Church Community is very uplifting and inspiring to be around, and I encourage everyone to find their community of people who can bring them joy.
